Professional Profile
I’m Ryan Brownell, a senior technical leader with over 20 years of experience in web development, infrastructure, and digital solution architecture. My work spans a wide range of domains—including healthcare, government, education, nonprofit, and commercial enterprise—and I bring a balance of deep technical expertise and people-first leadership to every project I take on.
Throughout my career, I’ve designed and implemented scalable web platforms, maintained and modernized infrastructure, and delivered user-centered tools that solve real-world problems. I take pride in my ability to translate complex technical requirements into practical, accessible solutions. I’ve worked hands-on across the entire stack and collaborated closely with clients, designers, and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure outcomes are reliable, maintainable, and grounded in user needs. I believe strong systems come from strong teams—and that means creating space for people to thrive.
Mentorship is an important part of my work, and I’ve found supporting early-career developers to be one of the most rewarding aspects of the job. I'm always looking for opportunities to help people grow into their strengths and do their best work.
In addition to my technical roles, I served as General Manager of the Bella Rose Arts Centre for seven years. There, I led a team of up to 40 people, developed and implemented operational procedures, maintained its infrastructure, and helped ensure the space was used to its fullest. This experience sharpened my ability to lead, mentor, and create structure in complex, people-oriented environments, with a focus on enabling others to succeed.
Whether I’m mentoring developers, re-architecting a system under pressure, or aligning technical strategy across siloed teams, I aim to lead with clarity, integrity, and pragmatism. I build trust by listening carefully, communicating transparently, and following through.
